After an odyssey of exactly 101 days, my overland journey from Kyrgyzstan to Bangladesh culminated in the vibrant heart of Dhaka. Bangladesh, a nation pulsating with life, welcomed me with open arms, and it did not disappoint.
In Dhaka, where waterways weave the fabric of daily existence, boats aren't just vessels; they're a way of life. Stepping into the labyrinth of shipyards, particularly in the bustling city of Dhaka, proved to be an endlessly fascinating exploration.
Running calmly through the center of Old Dhaka, the Buriganga River is the muddy artery of Dhaka and the very lifeblood of the city. On its southern bank lies the shipyard of Keraniganj. It is not the largest shipyard in the country - that honour belongs to the one in Chittagong, the second-largest ship breaking yard in the world. However, while the one in Chittagong remains closed to outsiders, anyone is free to visit in Dhaka.

Just behind the shipyard, ship propellers are hand-made by casting metal into moulds dug straight into the ground of the workshops

After the propellers have been cast, they are further processed using angle grinders.
