Ashura in Lahore

Back in August 2022 I had the fortune of being able to attend a procession in the days leading up to Ashura in Lahore. These processions are held by the Shiite community  who are a minority in Pakistan and security is intense. Generally only members of the Shiite community are allowed to attend for this reason. I was allowed to watch, but only as I was there with a local. Two days later on the day of Ashura itself, the city was quite literally on lockdown and crawling with security. At that point I decided leave Pakistan and return back to India crossing the border at Wagah.
